چکیده

Policosanol is known as a hypocholesterolemic compound and derived from plants such sugar cane corn. can lower blood pressure or inhibit adipogenesis, but its effect on osteogenic differentiation the molecular mechanism unclear. This study aims to investigate of policosanol in MC3T3-E1 cells zebrafish models. Administration into induced expression genes distal-less homeobox 5 (Dlx5) runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2). Alkaline phosphatase activity extracellular mineralization also increased. promoted activation adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) insulin-induced (INSIGs) regulation INSIGs modulated osteoblast differentiation. AMPK through transfection constitutively active form (CA-AMPK) increased expression, whereas policosanol-induced was suppressed by inhibitor (Com. C). Furthermore, effects were verified zebrafish. Amputated caudal fin rays regenerated treatment. Taken together, these results show that increases contributes regeneration via AMPK-mediated suggesting has potential an agent.

AMP-activated protein kinase stimulates osteoblast differentiation and mineralization through autophagy induction

Previous studies have reported that adenosine monophosphate‑activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation can enhance osteoblast differentiation and mineralization; however, the underlying mechanism is not fully understood. Autophagy also serves an important role in osteoblast mineralization and bone homeostasis. The present study aimed to explore whether activation of AMPK could enhance osteoblas...

Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase-based classification of diabetes pharmacotherapy

The current classification of both diabetes and antidiabetes medication is complex, preventing a treating physician from choosing the most appropriate treatment for an individual patient, sometimes resulting in patient-drug mismatch. We propose a novel, simple systematic classification of drugs, based on their effect on adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is the master...

Adenosine monophosphate–activated protein kinase in diabetic nephropathy

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease, and its pathogenesis is complex and has not yet been fully elucidated. Abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism is key to understanding the pathogenesis of DN, which can develop in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. A hallmark of this disease is the accumulation of glucose and lipids in renal cells, resulting in oxidative and...

Metformin activates type I interferon signaling against HCV via activation of adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase

Activation of the type I interferon (IFN) signaling pathway is essential for the eradication of hepatitis C virus (HCV). Metformin can activate adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) to reduce insulin resistance. Cross talks between AMPK and IFN signaling remain unclear. To understand the influence of metformin on the type I IFN signaling pathway and HCV infection, the full-len...

Berberine prevents hyperglycemia-induced endothelial injury and enhances vasodilatation via adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase and endothelial nitric oxide synthase.

AIMS Endothelial dysfunction is a key event that links obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. The aim of the present study was to examine the protective effect of the alkaloid drug berberine against hyperglycemia-induced cellular injury and endothelial dysfunction. METHODS AND RESULTS In both cultured endothelial cells and blood vessels isolated from rat aorta, berberin...
